Around 1,741 private schools in Delhi released their first merit list for nursery admissions for the 2026-27 academic year on Friday.

The schools published the names of shortlisted applicants and those on the waiting list.

Many shared the lists on their websites while others displayed them on notice boards. Nursery admission forms became available in the first week of December.

Schools shared their criteria based on a points system, and the deadline to submit forms was December 27. Schools used criteria such as distance from the school, alumni status, and sibling quotas. Some also gave extra points to single-girl children or orphans.

Alka Kapur, principal of Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh, said that 120 students were included in the first list. Sudha Acharya, principal of ITL Public School, Dwarka, said 97 students were shortlisted, with 43 placed on the waiting list.
